Occupational Therapy

Occupational TherapyWhat is occupational therapy (OT)? Occupational therapy uses scientifically based, purposeful activity and training to increase or restore function and independence in daily activities. All OT services are performed or supervised by licensed occupational therapists with bachelor or master's degrees in occupational therapy. We also have a certified hand therapist, CHT, on staff.

Stevens Hospital Occupational Therapists provide the following services:

  • Hand/upper extremity evaluation and treatment postsurgery and for traumatic and repetitive motion injuries.
  • Upper extremity/hand splints.
  • Musculoskeletal/neurological evaluation and treatment to increase motion, strength, coordination and function.
  • Activities of daily living (ADL) evaluation and treatment for difficulties with self-care or home management daily tasks due to any type of injury or illness.
  • Body mechanics/energy conservation/joint protection methods to perform daily tasks safely, reducing stress to body and tissues.
  • Ergonomic assessment and training to reduce stress to joints and soft tissues during work activities.
  • BTE PRIMUS evaluation and treatment—computerized work simulation testing, strengthening and training.
