About Stevens

Welcome From Michael Carter, President & CEO

Mike Carter

Welcome to Stevens Hospital, where we have been providing sound and thoughtful care and caring to our patients every day for more than 40 years. Since I assumed the Stevens helm a year ago, we have been busy planning and executing changes that are setting a dramatic and ambitious course for the future of health care in South Snohomish County. This new website, our bold and highly successful plans for the Emergency Department, the organization of a strong philanthropic arm – the Stevens Foundation – and the dramatic and expanding improvement in our financial position represent but a few of the changes which are shaping our new community identity and destiny.

Compassion, service, quality, and safety—right from  the beginning!

Founded in 1962 by a group of community leaders and physicians to serve the residents and families of Public Hospital District No. 2 of Snohomish County, the Stevens Hospital Family now includes a medical staff of 265 physicians and over 1200 employees in both clinical and non-clinical positions. As we look forward to a bright future, we will continue to give exceptional care to each patient – regardless of cultural, ethnic or racial status – every day. Care that achieves our standard of Beyond Excellence.

Strengthening relationships—building new partnerships.

Stevens is redefining the delivery of health care by a community hospital, providing care and caring that ranges from wellness, prevention and disease management to treatment of the most complex life-threatening injuries and illnesses. Join us in planning and expanding our future in South Snohomish County by supporting the new Stevens Foundation. Consider serving as a volunteer through membership in our Stevens Hospital Auxiliary or participating in our volunteer services program. Your input, your care and your support, that we so deeply value, reflect the new and invigorating spirit engendered by our management team.

Our mission and values.

Our mission is to improve the health and well-being of the community through local, high-quality and compassionate health care services. Every year Stevens gives direct charitable care and provides a myriad of community benefits worth millions of dollars through free and discounted patient treatment and services support for community programs. We are relentless and uncompromising as we fulfill our mission to improve the health of the communities we serve. Honoring our values of compassion, accountability, respect, excellence, and stewardship compels us to do no less.

And our promises.

Looking ahead to the next 45 years, we strive to create a national model for community-based health system collaboration. We have made an iron-clad pledge to our patients, their families, our physicians and staff, and the communities we serve.

Stevens promises patients care that is safe, effective, patient-centered, timely, efficient and equitable—achieving a standard beyond excellence.

Keeping our promise to you will help us achieve a new destiny and vision for Stevens.

Thank you for visiting www.stevenshospital.org. Begin a lifetime of care with Stevens. Trust your family to our family.

All the Best,

Michael C. Carter
